I am unapologetic about my level of bias for SF59, they are my all time favorite band, I think I have almost everything they have ever recorded, except a few rare vinyls.
I haven’t heard the whole album yet, but I already know the kind of quality that Jason Martin produces and am very excited to get my hands on it.
Take a listen here to the new song, The Brightest of the Head.
The Ottomans and Romans, the Spanish and the British,
all who have tried empire have faltered,
and at great cost to their own nations
In 1998 a Kuwaiti professor, amazingly was quoted in a proper pro-government Kuwaiti newspaper saying “The U.S. frightens us with Saddam to make us buy weapons and sign contracts with American companies thus ensuring a market for American arms manufactures and Untied States continued military presence in the middle east.
We have been bombing and occupying Iraq since 1991, longer than the occupation of Japan after World War ll. Yet Iraq has never committed aggression against the United States. So the idea we are there for our national security is a joke. After we removed Saddam from power the first thing the United States did was secure the Oil fields. What does that tell you about priorities.
The War in Afghanistan has long been over, after we reached an agreement to build a pipeline through the country. We got what we wanted and it wasn’t Osama Bin Laben. For a great over view of how Untied States Interest shifted to Afghanistan check out this.
Our Policy in the Middle East is totally schizophrenic and driven by Arab Oil, weapon sales, and Israel. page 73
Ron Paul says treating all of our enemies enemies as friends. This policy has probably done more to destroy our credibility as a champion of freedom in the world than any other thing. The Untied States is the worlds largest manufacturer of weapons, our defense budget is 10 times larger then the next closet country with 528 Billion dollars a year. Many countries view us as going into a region starting a conflict and then selling arms to both sides. That’s a great thing to be know for.
Of course our foreign aid dollar is now and has always been a weapon. page25
Apple Remote Desktop is the best way to manage the Mac computers on your network. Distribute software, provide real-time online help to end users, create detailed software and hardware reports, and automate routine management tasks — all without leaving your desk. Featuring Automator actions, Remote Spotlight search, and a new Dashboard widget, Apple Remote Desktop 3 makes your job easier than ever.
I got Apple Remote Desktop 3 about a month ago, but I finally installed it and starting using it. My first major task was to deploy a printing script for Indesign. I normally would have to throw the script on a server, then go around to each computer, log out of the server, then log back in with my password, drag the script off the server and install, logout of the server, then log back in who ever is using that computer.
It’s not hard, but to deploy a simple script could easily take over an hour to get to all the computers.
With Apple Remote Desktop 3, I made a list of all the users that need to receive the script, set up a automated workflow, and copied them into the folders they were suppose to go to. All while people were working, they never even noticed because it’s running at the unix level.
the whole job took about 5 minutes, and after wards I sent out a mass message with Apple remotes message tool. letting everyone know their printing script was updated.
Remote accessing any computer on the network comes up as a normal application window on the desktop.
This is Beautiful, I can run multiple reports on computers at the same time. No more walking around and physically checking serial numbers, and it’s down just by a few clicks. I have a detailed report on any computer I want.
This week I installed, setup and connected 45 computers. The first 10 were fun, the next 10 were annoying, the rest was just work.
Then we tested aggressively before we deployed to the whole office, and when we felt we had a stable installed, we went for it. Turns out it wasn’t so smooth.
After a couple 12+ hour days the problem turns out to be a third party plugin for indesign CS3! The problem is we have to have this certian plugin to function. So we’ve had some hard days this week.
Luckily we seem to be keeping our heads above water until we can get an update for our Plugin
I have been hooked on this song for about the last 2 weeks! I love the lyrics, the music is more my style rock, I miss rage. I’ll be honest, I was excited when I heard they were at the Republican National Convention a couple of months ago. I would love to see another album from them, especially with what the world has gone through in the last 4-8 years. I imagine they would have some great commentary.
I bold some of the lines that strike me.
Rage Against the Machine- No Shelter
The main attraction distraction
Got you number than number than numb.
Empty your pockets son they got you thinkin’ that
What you need is what they sellin’
Make you think that buyin’ is rebellin’
From the theaters to malls on every shore
The thin line between entertainment and war
The front line is everywhere there’ll be no shelter here
Still burn the nightmare works you pushin’ for,
I’m a snap of the whip, the true feather to tar Memroy erased and promise gone,
Tradin’ your history for a V.C.R.
Cinema simulated life in trauma
Forthright culture, Americana
Chained to the dream they got you searchin’ for The thin line between entertainment and war
There’ll be no shelter here,
The front line is everywhere. X4
Hospitals not profitful
The market bulls got pockets full
To advertise some hip disguise
View the world from American eyes
The parmagon keep fiendin’ for more
The thin line between entertainment and war
Fix the need, develop the taste,
Buy the products, or get laid to waste
Coca-cola was back in the veins of Saigon
And Rambo troops We got a dope pair ‘a Nikes on
Godzilla pure motherfuckin’ filler
Get your eyes on the real killer,
Cinema simulated life in trauma
Forthright culture, Americana Chained to the dream they got you searchin’ for,
The thin line between entertainment and war.
There’ll be no shelter here,
The front line is everywhere. X4
American eyes, American eyes,
View the world from American eyes,
Bury the past, rob us blind,
leave nothing behind. X2
Just stare. X4
Or live the nightmare.
Little did I know this week was Banned Book week, I would have made a lot of noise about it. I’ve written before about a couple of banned books I’ve read.
