Jon Foreman // Seasonal EP’s

I love the idea of putting out seasonal ep’s. I think it’s very original.

For anyone who is a fan of switchfoot, you’ll be a big fan of these.

A stripped back sound, someone even described the spring and summer EP’s as “San Diego Camp Fire” music.

check out the EP’s Here

Death Cab For Cutie // Narrow Stairs

July 26, 2008

Death Cab For Cutie // Narrow Stairs

The New Death Cab…..I guess it’s alright. It was over hyped as far as I’m concerned. it was pitched as going to be an album with a totally new sound. I didn’t hear.

I do like most the tracks…I will possess your heart…the first single was good. This song I have posted is called “Cath”. I posted it because it reminds me of some old Rose Blossom Punch or Fair, either way It’s familiar to an Aaron Sprinkle sound.

Griffin House // Lost & Found

I really like this guy’s style, he’s s a singer/songwriter, from Springfield, Ohio. This album isn’t new, it’s from 2004 but it’s new to me, I had never heard of him before.

This would be a great album to put in when your having company over, it’s smooth and relaxing, and I just have this picture of people having a conversation over the top of it.

What Have You Done With The Internet?

July 24, 2008

what if you woke up tomorrow and the Internet was gone!

How would your life change?

The Internet is far from perfect and as we move deeper into the 21st century all kinds of copyright, security, and censorship issues have to be addressed.

But think about this, at no time in history has such a large portion of the public had access to the same information as the elite.

Think about the protestant reformation, martin Luther was outraged that the church was selling “Forgiveness” for money. But the majority of people had no idea it was wrong because the bible wasn’t written in  common language, he nailed his 95 thesis to the Wittenberg Church, and then translated the bible into German.

Not long after that, in 1526 the Tyndale New Testament  was the first English bible translated for the masses.

Think about what the invention of the printing press has done for history.

It certainly has changed the world.

If you think about it, information / education has been the major cause of change through out history. Which is why information has always been controlled and keep out of the hands of the public. Media, newspaper, textbooks all push the same agenda.

think of what happened to science when Copernicus said the earth moves around the sun, or  the belief that the earth isn’t flat. Those ideas had to change everything.

At this point is history we have access the most uncensored information ever. And don’t think the elites of the world are happy about it.

there are constant pushes in our own government to shut down the Internet, to regulate what people have access to, the same way China filters out what their people can view. Check out this

So what have you done with the Internet?

Are you using it as just another means to entertain yourself.

Sites like youtube, myspace, and facebook are great, but if all your doing is taking from the Internet you have a pretty selfish and narrow view of what the Internet can do.

You have access to free college courses, just google “open course ware”.

Free computer software google things like freeware, opensoure apps, even free computer systems, just google linux.

Watch some of the free documentaries on google video like Loose Change or America: Freedom to Fascism, Join a P2P network and share files.

There are endless opportunities to research any topic. The excuse of being uninformed no longer works.

You have information at your finger tips, use it to become informed.

Go download the bill of rights, the constitution, read about things like operation northwoods. use RSS to keep you up to date with whats going on in the world.

There will come a day when the Internet has been stripped of it’s freedom. AT&T is already moving towards a tiered Internet, much like the way Cable TV works. it’s bad enough now that we have to pay for Internet, what happens when they create packages and you can’t afford the package you want? or they completely remove certain sites.

Of course AT&T says it’s all because the Internet will reach it’s capacity by 2010. So ISP’s are scrambling to create a new system that will benefit them more then the consumers.

ISP’s have resolved to restrict the Internet to a TV-like subscription model where users will be forced to pay to visit selected corporate websites by 2012, while others will be blocked, according to a leaked report. Despite some people dismissing the story as a hoax, the wider plan to kill the traditional Internet and replace it with a regulated and controlled Internet 2 is manifestly provable.

AT&T and Comcast have already been caught censoring users, just like Myspace.

Research things like Internet2, Red Button Day, HR 1955, Net Neutrality

Check out sites like SAVE THE INTERNET, support Bills like HR 5353

….or you know just sit back and super poke your friends on facebook, watch a funny video of a cat running into a wall on youtube, and self absorb yourself in celebrity gossip.

New Coldplay

July 24, 2008

Coldplay // viva la vida

I’m not a huge coldplay fan, I admit it. So I was one of the few people in the world who wasn’t that excited when their new album dropped. I got it from a friend and gave it a listen.

The song that I’m really into is “Lost”, the third song on the album.

i guess they just come off as British divas, at least to me. Here’s an interesting article from the BBC.

Mates of State // Re-Arrange Us

Hey these guys are new to be, but they started back in 1997. I kind of picked this up on a review from a another blog, that I can’t recall the name of right now.

I’ve  given it the standard 3 rotation, and I’m digging it.  Drums, keyboard, and vocals…..who would have thought it could be this entertaining.

9/11 Chronicles Truth Rising

July 17, 2008

I watched The 9/11 Chronicles Truth Rising last night. I won’t over hype it, it’s not the best documentary I’ve ever seen. There were some really good moments, but the large majority of the movie is through the lens of activist camera’s ( aka Blair Witch / Cloverfield Point of View). So by the end I found myself needing some Advil.

I also worry that if people aren’t aware of the 9/11 Truth Moment, We Are Change, or Alex Jones that they might find themselves wondering what’s going on at certain moments.

For example one of my favorite parts was when Luke Rudkowski confronts Zbigniew Brzezinski. Luke stats it’s the first time he had ever confronted anyone, he was alone, and Brzezinski is a “Power Broker’. As Luke is rattling off his questions, Brzezinski gets so mad he says “Please sit down and Shut up!” into the microphone. Mind you this is in a  auditorium of a couple hundred people where Brzezinski was giving a speech.

Do people even know who Zbigniew Brzezinski is?

Do you?

I think there are a lot of things like that in this movie that get lost in the translation.

With that aside, It was good, It gave me plenty of things to think about, and it’s worth the time invest to watch it.

Give To Caesar What Is Caesar’s

July 16, 2008

I haven’t posted anything like this in awhile.

In Mark 12:15-17, the Pharisee are trying to get Jesus to say something they can arrest him for, mainly that Jews shouldn’t pay taxes to Rome. So they ask if Jews should pay taxes to Caesar or not. The whole problem of course that in Jewish culture carrying around a coin with an image on it, implied you worshipped that image. Remember the 10 Commandments!

You shall not make for yourself a carved image–any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

The  inscription on the coin said.“Caesar Augustus Tiberius, son of the Divine Augustus.” To Jesus, this would have been blasphemous, the coin claims that Augustus was god.

So Jesus say “Show me a coin“, which I wonder why didn’t Jesus just pull one out. Unless he wasn’t carrying one….which would imply that Jesus doesn’t worship Caesar. But who does pull one out, a Pharisee. They very people who are suppose to be leading others in their relationship to God.

There is this thought in the Mishnah, which is considered to be the first important work of Rabbinic Judaism[3] and is a major source of rabbinic religious thought and Rabbinic commentaries. “That Caesar Had stamped every coin in his image, and God stamped every human in his.”

Since Caesar had created the coins in his image he could at any time ask for them back, in the form of a tax. So Jesus states, that because people are made in the image of God, He could also at any time request them back.

So in a way it’s give to Caesar what ever is his, his money and the stuff you can buy with money, and then go give your self to God.

which adds some insight into the rich young ruler. That before Jesus would allow him to follow him, he said go sell everything you have and give it to the poor. maybe Jesus wanted to see whether he worshiped God or Caesar.

A interesting thought.
