Thumb Scan Vending Machines Coming To Your Work.
June 25, 2008They hauled away our old vending machines at work and replaced it with the new super deluxe, ultra shinny and uber popular “quickstore 24″.
I even heard rumors that we are the first office in Ohio to get one. That might be true, or it just sounds really good in the sales pitch.
I wonder what was wrong with the old machines?
Not that i even use them, twice in the last year I have gotten a mountain dew out of the machine. But I bring my lunch, and yes even my own snacks. Despite the nasty rumors the pop machine is spreading around. It’s more cost effective then eating out of a vending machine, and more convenient. What’s easier then not getting up from your desk.
But this new machine, has daily sales, which ever item is lit up, gives away free samples, instant coupons, you can win free prizes, email, text message, send someone else a free gift, it monitors inventory in real time, only restocks items that sell the most, and you can even play games.
The advertising angle is that’s it gives you more choices, and it’s easier to use, and cheaper. You can get 2 items for a dollar. When in reality most people only spend 60¢ at the vending machine. But if they advertise that you get 2 items for a dollar, people are more likely to spend more money then they were planing.
You can even sign up for a Thumbpass! thats right if you give your thumbprint to them you can set up an account and never have to take cash to the vending machine again.
I can’t help but feel like they think we are circus monkeys. we need entertained all the time, we now need vending machines that have interactive displays and email capability. and if you put enough bells and whistle on anything, people will flock to it like cattle.
“What you want my unique god given thumbprint, just so I don’t have to carry 50 cents to the vending machine for a snickers, duh… thats so cool”
But there is a line of people waiting to register their thumbprints because this is so cool. it’s like a bunch of middle school kids peer pressuring each other to pierce their own ears because everyone’s doing it.
would you give a vending machine your social security number?
how about your DNA?
They are conditioning us like little children to just accept what ever they want to force on us. I know it’s just a vending machine now, but if people just accept it, your thumb will turn into your credit card, or key for your car, or your login to the internet. all of which are pressing issues with patents and senate bills waiting. Just ask Microsoft who has spent 7 years working on a thumb-scan for their laptops.
The whole push for a cashless society is everywhere, including those propaganda commercials by visa, (life takes visa). it may sound more convenient but all it’s really doing is giving the bank more control of your money. Where you spend it, how much, etc… that can’t even get my checking account right with out posting bogus fines or charging me stupid fees. why would I assume they could go this any better?
Who does it really benefit?
does it really save us time, or make like that much easier?
Well it would for banks, and credit card companies, and the government. because it would create a trackable account on where everyones money goes.
And it all sounds good because we assume we live in the greatest place on earth, but nothing would make turning a republic into a dictatorship faster then having everything digital. Lets just use your thumb print for everything, and we need to have a central database to keep all the records on people. And because it’s such a huge security threat the only people we would trust to manage it would be of course the government, because they always want what’s best for us right?
maybe we’ll let the department of Homeland security handled it, or maybe we can create a new department, like the department of information, or even better the bureau of security, or the ministry of love < orwell reference.
Why is it people always assume that something new is better?
Why can’t we think for our selves?
Do I Stand Alone // Jessie Venture
June 25, 2008
I picked up this book mainly because of the media attention around Jessie Ventures new book, “Don’t Start The Revolution Without Me.” Apparently there is a long wait line for that at the local library so I decided to pick up one of his old ones.
It’s great, informative, witty, smart, educational… better then you would think a political book could be. He spends the first half of the book talking about his term as Governor of Minnesota. The great thing about Jessie is he is open and honest. He tells all the details, the death threats, how the media tried to screw him, and he gives names of people in Minnesota that tried to smear his name. It’s the honest that drives the book.
The second half he goes through the bill of rights and gives his opinion on how they should be interpreted for today. What freedom of press really means, and right to privacy. Then he tackles the hard issues. Every thing to welfare, abortion, gay marriage, education, you name it, he talks about.
The appeal to me is, Jessie is Independent. So he doesn’t have to suck up to either side, he can call things the way he see’s it, because he doesn’t get money or support from either party.

June 24, 2008Politics and Street Gangs
June 24, 2008
“We have to parties, either the Demo-Crips or the Re-Blood-licans.
I’d say they’re really no different than street gangs,
except they wear Brooks Brothers Suits.”
-Paraphrase from Jessie Venture, former Independent Governor from Minnesota,
Do I Stand Alone? page22
The illusion is we have a choice, when in reality by the time Presidential Candidates are chosen, the American people have already lost.
You have Rockefellers funding Obama, and Kissinger funding McCain.
You have McCain’s 2000 Foreign Policy adviser zbigniew brzezinski now Obama’s 2008 Foreign Policy advisor, until he was forced to step down, at least publicly. and brzezinski son Ian is now McCains Foreign Policy advisor for 2008.
It’s 2 sides of the same coin.

New Music // Adele
June 18, 2008
This isn’t usually my kind of music, I like rock, hard rock, emo rock. But there is something about this ladies voice that I dig. It’s almost as if she use her voice as in instrument to complaint the music.
Check out her vocals starting at about 1:08 in the video, did I mention she’s British!
By the way her whole album is good!
My New Hero: Dennis Kucinich
June 17, 2008Dennis Kucinich just presented congress with 35 articles of impeachment against George W. Bush. And he said if congress doesn’t decide to act on it, he will present 60 articles next month.
Imagine the courage it takes as a member of congress to stand up and say George Bush should be impeached for these reasons. Thereis a great video below of him presented this to the house. You don’t have to watch all of it, but Please watch the first 1 minute and 40′ish seconds.
Listen when Kucinich starts talking and then he stops and says “The house is not in order” and the speaker of the house Huffs at him! (1:28 in the video) What disrespect to show to a member of congress.
You can read the 35 articles of Impeachment here
You can download the 35 articles of Impeachment here
Let me also say I don’t agree with everything Kucinich does, I don’t like his gun policy just to name one. But he has pr oven to be one of the few in congress that has gained the reputation for being a truth teller.
